“Situated within a hollow on a hill, the Nubba school-grounds stand high above the surrounding farm lands and afford a splendid oversight of such and the country.”
— Murrumburrah Signal and County of Harden Advocate, 1904
Nubba Public School opened in August 1873, with 31 pupils from local farming families. It went on to serve the community for more than 80 years, closing in December 1954 as enrolments declined, marking the end of an era for the district. The schoolhouse (pictured above) was later relocated to a nearby property whilst the headmaster’s residence remains, retaining its original character, and now offering open-plan contemporary living.
